Day Five: Sequoia and Kings Canyon - Part 2

Up at 6:30am and on the road by 8am to walk the Big Stump Trail. We were the ONLY ones on the trail, so it was nice and quiet. We got to see the stumps, sawdust piles, site of an old mill, and stand on the Mark Twain stump - sections of which are in New York and London. From there we said goodbye to Kings Canyon and headed back to Sequoia to hike the Crescent Meadow Loop. Very pretty area just south of the Congress Trail where we walked the mile all the way around the meadow. On the way to Crescent Meadow we got to drive through the Tunnel Log (I actually walked so I could take a picture of the rest of them in the minivan driving through). After the meadow we headed over to Moro Rock to climb the 400 steps to the top. Bubba was in my backpack and was very excited for every step she saw - "more stairs!" After taking in the panorama at the top, we came back down the stairs and were on the road again - this time to San Luis Obispo and Grandma Sue's house! On the way we saw even more crops, though I guess driving through the Central Valley will do that. This time the new ones were alphalfa and tomatoes, but there was also lots more corn and grapes.Day Five Photos
