Day 12: SLO to Garberville, CA
We left Grandma Sue's house at 7:30am and started our return trip north on the 101. The girls were quite upset that Grandma Sue wasn't coming with us in the car, and asked most of the day to go back to Grandma Sue's house - it was sweet. Our first stop was in Fremont at Station #6 where Dude's cousin Brad works. We got the grand tour of the new station and even got to watch them go out on a call (they were back within 20 minutes and we ate lunch while we waited). After Fremont, we drove north on the 880 and then west on the 80 over the Bay Bridge (the toll is $4!) and into San Francisco. After a brief detour to buy chocolate at Ghirardelli Square, we went over the foggy Golden Gate Bridge and through the rainbow tunnel on the Marin County side. Santa Rosa was our next stop to get some ice cream with Uncle Rod (Grandma/Meema's brother) and then the final push to Garberville for the night. Marty even let me drive some of the curvy roads as we got further north so he could look at the redwoods we started to pass through. First stop in the morning will be the Avenue of the Giants.
